How Do You Afford the Travel?
We wish we had a more creative answer for this, but unfortunately, it's a pretty boring one. We both work full-time corporate jobs and set aside a portion of our income each month specifically for travel.
We also occasionally partner with trusted brands to promote their products and provide photography services, which helps offset some of the costs of this expensive hobby.
There's really no shortcut to it—we work hard and save for every trip we take. Because of that, we appreciate each journey even more and try to make the most of every experience.
How do you plan your travels?
In general, we prefer independent travel over joining group tours through travel agencies, which means we have to do a lot of homework beforehand. We spend plenty of time reading reviews on TripAdvisor, researching destinations, and pinning potential stops on Google Maps to help plan our routes. We also take many other factors into consideration, such as the weather, hiking distances, outfit choices, travel times, and our overall energy levels for each day.
That said, we're not completely against guided tours. From time to time, we'll join a local day tour and trust a knowledgeable guide to show us a side of a destination that we might not have discovered on our own. For us, the planning process is part of the adventure.
Who designed the website?
The website was proudly designed by Stacy—and we use the word proudly because Stacy had no prior experience in web design before starting this project. Fortunately, modern website templates have made building a website much more accessible than it used to be. With countless online tutorials available, it became possible to learn each step of the process along the way.
Of course, the website wouldn't be nearly as visually appealing without Matt's photography. Over the years, he has captured countless beautiful images that now provide much of the content and inspiration behind the site. Building this website has been a true team effort, combining Stacy's willingness to learn with Matt's passion for photography and travel.
What camera(s) do you use?
As convenient as smartphones are nowadays, we still don't think they can fully replace dedicated cameras when it comes to capturing and preserving our travel memories.
Matt's camera collection currently includes a Nikon Z6, a Sony NEX-5, and a GoPro. Depending on the type of trip or photo shoot, he pairs these cameras with different lenses and accessories to suit the situation.
That said, the majority of the photos featured on our website were taken with a Nikon Z6 paired with the NIKKOR Z 24–70mm f/2.8 S lens. It's a versatile setup that performs well in a wide range of travel scenarios, from landscapes and city scenes to family portraits and everyday moments on the road.
