Our Blissful Babymoon in Palm Springs

Pregnancy is like a rollercoaster ride - countless joy and thrill, but some horrific moments too. As we get through and experience this bumpy ride, we finally made it to a “calmer” period. So at 27 weeks, we decided it’s time for our much needed and long-awaited babymoon, an easy yet romantic getaway to Palm Springs.

Palm Springs Windmills

Short drive from Orange County, you don’t need GPS to tell you that you’re near. The strong wind trying to dictate your steering wheel and miles of windmills are the best representation of this place. But luckily, there are a few photo friendly spots for the windmills without having to deal with the constant struggle of trying to standstill in the wind or removing your hair from your face, and that was a huge relief for us!

A short walk from the parking lot on some sandy fields is most likely required, but how far you prefer to walk is a totally personal choice.

The first location we parked for some classic windmill photos is Palm Springs (PSN) Parking Lot.

We also stopped by at a nearby location without a designated parking lot the next day. If you’re fine with offroad parking and some simple hikes, chances are you will find lots of different locations for stunning photo opportunities with these gigantic windmills.

A bonus for us while we were here - catching some sunset lighting in the backdrop was a magical experience!

Palm Springs Downtown

With tons of beautifully decorated shops and restaurants, you don’t need to shop or eat anything to experience the vibes here. Just take a stroll down the street and it will instantly brighten up your day.

Palm Springs Art Museum

If your time is ample, this could be an excellent place to tour. However if you have a tighter schedule, still check out the sexy Forever Marilyn Monroe statue outside of the museum as it’s right in the city center.

Palm Springs Visitor Center

We honestly don’t feel much like visitors having been to the area many times, but the visitor center is still a cute place to check out.

And a few steps of walk from the main visitor center building, definitely snap a photo with that Palm Springs sign and those magnificent mountains in the back!

Palm Springs City Hall

This is a less popular spot to check out, but we found it to be quite unique and decided to stop by. After all, it’s a charming design integration of architecture and palm trees.

Palm Springs Hotels

Palm Springs definitely has some adorable hotels in town, and many of them have some eye catching colors. If you happen to see a cute spot, chances are you could easily park and take a shot.

Moorten Botanical Garden

A few minutes of drive from downtown, this small botanical garden has some lovely yet spikey plants to check out, and some of them are quite impressive in size! (Entry Admission: $5/person)

There is also a greenhouse inside the garden, home of some adorable baby cacti.

Sunnylands Center & Gardens

A slightly longer drive to Rancho Mirage, this is a location so worth visiting in our opinions. Not only it is completely free to visit, it is also extremely well maintained and decorated.

It doesn’t take long to walk around the property if you’re not here for a golf retreat, but it was a beautiful walk for us with mostly shaded paths, and we got to experience some super zen nature ambience and see some astonishing design of plants!

Indian Canyons

For those palm tree fans, this will be a total paradise! The whopping view of those palm trees in the canyon from the parking lot instantly blew us away at first sight. (Entry Admission: $12/person)

And if the first impression wasn’t good enough, the best part is that the oasis is literally 5 minutes of walk from parking lot, a super easy access without having to sweat much.

In the middle of the palm tree oasis, you will find a picnic area with restrooms available, so you could pleasantly spend extensive relaxing time here. Or if you look forward to more physical activities, start your hike from the picnic area and go deeper into the canyon to explore - it’s basically a perfect location for all!

Other Places Nearby to Check Out

There are also great places to check out near Palm Springs area if you have more time than just a weekend, we couldn’t fit everything into this weekend trip, but we were lucky to have previously visited them during separate times.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

This is one of the most iconic activity in Palm Springs area, a “must” for many first time visitors. So if you have this planned as part of your trip here, make sure you leave plenty of time to explore the summit and bring sufficient warm clothes with you as the temperature drop at the top is no joke!

Joshua Tree National Park

One of our most beloved destinations and our most visited National Park. If interested, follow links below to check out our previous trips to this incredible place:
