The Legendary Hearst Castle
Being so legendary, you’ve probably heard about Hearst Castle many times and pictured it in your mind in different ways, but it is one those places that even after a lot of imagination, you would still be genuinely wowed when you’re actually here.
With a driveway that is 5 miles long and starting from the bottom of the hill, Mr. William Randolph Hearst’s mansion is located on the very top of The Enchanted Hill. On your way up, you will pass by a few ranches, several farmhouses, a zoo, as well as spectacular views of mountains and ocean, and all of these are indeed PRIVATE.
As you get closer to the castle, astonishment builds up. Until it is right in front of you and you just can’t keep your eyes off this incredibly magnificent architecture, designed by the amazing architect Julia Morgan.
(Picture taken with a 12mm ultra wide angle lens, cellphones will most likely NOT be able to capture the entire castle from close by.)
Castle Interiors
Make sure to follow your tour guide once you go into the mansion, or else you might be lost in no time. With over 50 bedrooms and bathrooms each, none of the rooms look the same or even similar. From every piece of furniture and painting, to every single fireplace and ceiling, each was carefully designed and selected to suit the specific room.
And just to picture a few of them here, a super luxurious sitting room, an extremely elegant bedroom, a library that is so exquisite and dreamy..
And lastly, the marvelous Assembly Room.
Castle Exteriors
Unlike the indoor tours that are scheduled and timed, you are free to decide how much time you’d like spend on the outside of the castle. Take your time and wander around here, it is truly gorgeous from every direction.
